Bert Stern Artworks for sale - artetrama

Bert Stern

Bertram Stern (born 3 October 1929) is considered as one of the most important photographers of fashion and celebrities.

His best known work is probably "The Last Sitting", a collection of 2,500 photographs of Marilyn Monroe taken over a period of three days, six weeks before his death and published in Vogue. Stern published Marilyn Monroe: The Complete Last Sitting in 1992.

He also directed "Jazz on a Summer's Day", a documentary film about the 1959 Newport Jazz Festival of 1958. In 1999, the film is considered "culturally significant" by the Library of U.S. Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Stern worked as the photographer of Lolita and shot the advertisement pictures of Sue Lyon. He has photographed Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Drew Barrymore and Lindsay Lohan (recreating the last sitting), among others. A fashion photographer without any doubt, his work has also been remarkable in advertsing and travel publications.
