Mark Ryden's work is full of symbols and elements that may not have any connections between them but, somehow, they fit perfectly well in his scenarios. His use of childish pink colour and his apparently naive images hide details that embrace the grotesque and perturbing.
This "Magic Circus" work, inspired by Joan Miró's "Harlequin's carnival", definitely has all the elements that are so characteristic in Ryden's work: big headed toddlers, bees, bunnies, fetus, marine fauna or images of Abraham Lincoln and God.
