Pugahm Myo. Thapinyu Pagoda
Photograph printed by Grieger, Dusseldorf, on high quality Rag Photographique Paper. Hand signed and numbered by the artist on the back. Image size: 38.3 x 30 cm.
These pictures were taken from paper negatives created by Linnaeus Tripe in 1850s. Thomas Ruff has reimagined the photographs taken in India and Burma by the British Army Captain, official of the East Indian Company (Myanmar). Ruffs' work of research and digital retouch has brought to life structures, colours and details hidden in the smaller scale negatives developed by Tripe.
