Caccia al ladro (To catch a thief)

Multiple decollage hand signed and numbered by the artist. Limited edition of 125 decollages numbered in Arab numerals, 50 in Roman numerals and some P.A. Includes embossing stamp of the Fondazione Mimmo Rotella and NordEst.

According to the artist, decollages were born in the middle of a period of crisis. By the time when Rotella lived in Rome, he was impressed by the walls covered by torn handbills. He went down the street, ripped those handbills off the wall and took the pieces to his studio. Then he tried to put them back together the way he though they were, the way Mimmo Rotella saw them. That's how the first decollage was created.

Alfred Hitchcock's "To catch a thief" was filmed in 1954 at the French Riviera. That's where Gracy Kelly met her future husband, Prince Rainier of Monaco. The movie was released a year after because the producers felt the age difference between Cary Grant and Grace Kelly was too great for their romance to be believable. It turned out that the issue was no problem at all for the audience and the film became one of the biggest hits of the decade. It was nominated for three Academy Awards and won Best Cinematography in 1956.
