In February 1981, the historic New York/New Wave show at MoMA PS1 served as the defining springboard for Jean-Michel Basquiat. Just 20 years old and hanging alongside established names like Andy Warhol and an up-and-coming Keith Haring, Basquiat took over the final room with raw canvases that electrified the downtown gallery scene. To announce this milestone for global Urban Art, explored in depth in our guide on urban art from the streets to the galleries, he created this graffiti-infused promotional sign, distilling the restless creative collision of early-1980s Manhattan.
This designer LED neon sculpture brings that rebellious energy straight into your interior, illuminating Basquiat's distinctive lettering in high-contrast tones. The silhouette is set over a recycled acrylic base with high-definition UV printing, faithfully preserving the grit and layout of the original flyer.
