Eduardo Arranz-Bravo

Eduardo Arranz-Bravo è nato il 9 ottobre 1941 a Barcellona. Nel 1951 studia all'Istituto Menéndez y Pelayo di Barcellona, dove viene sospeso dall'insegnante d'arte, convinto che Arranz-Bravo copia tutti i compiti che presenta.

Dal 1959 al 1960 Arranz-Bravo studia arte a Barcellona presso la Scuola di Belle Arti di San Jorge.

Ha avuto la sua prima mostra personale nel 1961 al Club Universitario di Barcellona, ma solo l'anno successivo si è guadagnato l'acclamazione della critica in una mostra organizzata dall'Ateneo de Barcelona.

Arranz-Bravo ha fatto squadra con Rafael Bartolozzi negli anni '70 e per più di un decennio hanno realizzato progetti artistici in comune che hanno cambiato la storia dell'arte contemporanea spagnola. Gli anni Settanta saranno gli anni degli happening congiunti, della pubblicazione di libri, assemblee di legni e dipinti con ironiche figure di tema erotico.

Sempre durante questo decennio, l'artista è iniziato alla scultura e inizia una serie di disegni con Joan Ponç.

Le sue prime opere appartengono all'informalismo, movimento che lascia nel 1961. Da allora la sua arte si mescola al surrealismo e all'estetica della pop art. Dal 1980 il suo precedente stile frammentario lascia il posto a un grafismo a pennellata libera che continua oggi con opere ricche di colori, soprattutto con tonalità in rosso e con piccole figure, soprattutto segni zodiacali o croci.

Alcune delle sue opere più rappresentative si incontrano nella serie "Abrazos" (Abbracci) del 1983 e "Pantocrator" del 1986-1989. Le sue opere sono esposte al Museo Nazionale d'Arte Contemporanea spagnolo Reina Sofia di Madrid, al Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di New York, al Museo di San Paolo e al Museo di Belle Arti di Vitoria tra molti altri.
